Biography - About myself

About myself - Band career - Musical influences

I was born Feb 16th 1980.
At the age of 12 I started playing the guitar.
But I actually must've been just about 3 years old, the first moment since I can awarely remember, yearning for that majestic six string.
True love - that's all I can say about it.

In the beginning I played a lot of Beatles & Guns n' roses songs by figuring them out myself.
Only a short time after Alex Landenburg - a friend of mine and drummer - fed my ears with a lot of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Motorhead, Helloween, etc.
One day he came up with Joey Siedl.
Joey became the singer of our first band Blind Faith.
But I guess it was in '94 he decided to stop singing and start playing the guitar.
Since then we used to take a lot of guitar battles one against the other.
While one was trying to play better than the other each one of us individually improved little by little.
Listening, figuring out and playing songs the following next 3 years made me quite a solid and steady guitarist.
Until I became 15...
It was the year my ears got blessed with the lovely sounds of Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Symphony X and Dream Theater.
Neoclassical and progressive music changed my musical understanding completely since the day it entered my life.
Right then I knew there's more to music than I had ever thought before.
Well, my main influence in playing definitely came from Yngwie Malmsteen.
As I always asked myself the question why and how he was playing the way he did, I decided to go back to his roots.
